VETS CONNECT - One on One Matchmaking by the National 8a Assoication

The National Veteran Small Business Coalition has partnered with the National 8a Assoication to provide best-in-class matchmaking at the VETS'20 Conference.

Matchmaking at VETS 20 will be held on May 27, 2020 from 2:30pm – 5:00pm.

Buyers (Government Agencies and Large Primes) will host 10-minute one-on-one meetings with Suppliers (Small Businesses). All matchmaking meetings are pre-assigned appointments.

Deadline to opt-in for matchmaking is April 24, 2020.

Matchmaking will be facilitated by the National 8(a) Association. All matchmaking communications will be sent from .

BEFORE THE CONFERENCE 

  • Opt-in for matchmaking if you’re interested in being a Buyer or Supplier while completing the VETS 20 Registration.
  • Beginning February 24, 2020, National 8(a) Association will send instructions for building Buyer and Supplier matchmaking profiles.
  • After reviewing matchmaking profiles, National 8(a) Association will assign meetings based the needs requested from Buyers and the capabilities of Suppliers.
  • Buyers will be notified by National 8(a) Association to review assigned meetings on May 1, 2020 to confirm or reassign meetings.
  • Buyers and Suppliers will be notified by National 8(a) Association confirmation of matchmaking schedule on May 11, 2020.
  • Review matchmaking schedule and prepare for your meetings.

DURING THE CONFERENCE

Buyers

  • Plan to arrive to the matchmaking room about 15 minutes prior to your meeting’s scheduled start time.
  • Each Buyer will be assigned a table number and will be provided their matchmaking schedule with Supplier information
  • Matchmaking Coordinators will make announcements in front of the matchmaking room at each meeting start time to allow Suppliers with appointments to proceed to their Buyer’s table
  •  Each meeting is only 10 minutes and will have 5-minute breaks between each appointment
    o 8 minutes into the meeting, a 2-minute end of meeting warning will be announced
    o At the 10 minute mark, an end of meeting announcement will be made
  • Any no-show or late Supplier meetings will be reassigned to another Supplier through an Open-Call process facilitated by the Matchmaking Coordinators after 2 minutes of meeting start time

Suppliers

  • Plan to arrive to the matchmaking room about 5 minutes prior to your meeting’s scheduled start time to line up in the “Appointments” queue.
    o Take this time to identify the table number the Buyer you are meeting with is seated at (a table listing will be provided)
  • Matchmaking Coordinators will make announcements in front of the matchmaking room at each meeting start time to allow Suppliers with appointments to proceed to their Buyer’s table
    o Suppliers are considered a no-show or late if not seated at the Buyer table after 2 minutes of meeting start time; meeting will be reassigned to another Supplier.
  •  Each meeting is only 10 minutes, please plan accordingly
    o 8 minutes into the meeting, a 2-minute end of meeting warning will be announced
    o At the 10 minute mark, an end of meeting announcement will be made, and you will be asked to exit the room
    o If you have back to back meetings, you will still need to exit the matchmaking room and line up in the “Appointments” queue again 
  •  Additional meetings will be offered through an Open-Call process for no-show or late appointments
    o Notice of available meetings with Buyers will be announced directly in front of the Matchmaking room in real time, 2 minutes after each meeting start time
    o Suppliers interested in these meetings will need to wait in the “Open-Call” queue and listen to the announcements to know which Buyer is available
